This drawing was meant to raise awareness about water pollution and the harm humans are causing to marine life. I chose a sea turtle as the main subject because it shows the beauty of ocean life, while also being one of the animals most affected by pollution. I used colored pencils to carefully blend different shades of blue and orange in the water and the turtle’s body to show how vibrant and alive the ocean should be. The smoke coming from the smokestacks and ship is drawn with dark gray and black tones. These darker colors symbolize the negative impact of our actions on the environment.
