For this piece, I was heavily inspired by Zoe’s imagination and creativity. I wanted to show in this painting the struggles and challenges that Zoe went through in her much too short lifetime, while also expressing her engagement in the art world as well as her whimsical and unique style. In my painting, the castle symbolizes the unknown, and the wildflowers symbolize Zoe’s passion for art and expansion past the limitations placed on her by her illness.
